"'In the air-ship-----' He broke off, and she fancied that he looked sad. She could not be sure, for the Machine did not transmit nuances of expression. It only gave a general idea of people - an idea that was good enough for all practical purposes, Vashti thought." (The Machine Stops, p. 4)
Has technology improved our relationships with other people or made them more superficial?
(remember to write your names)
Indeed! How many of your facebook friends do you talk to in real life?
ReplyDeletePeople use the internet to tell other people what the wouldt tell them in real life.
You never get the same reaction through a phone or a computer that you would get from a person that you are talking to face to face. The internet is taking relationships to another level. People are meeting and dating via the internet and people who have never met each other are expressing love!
But the internet is helping people to, through skype, messenger and facebook, we are able to keep contact whit people all over the world, that we would see if it wasn't for the internet.
So in the end - Yes technology is making human communication a lot more superficial but where would we be if it hadn't?
